Who Could Benefit From LawDepot?

Everyone can and will benefit from businesses to individuals.

We all need these legal documents and having them all in one place makes the process very easy.

Let’s go over a few of the reasons I signed up with LawDepot.

Business Documents

If you are starting a business, you will need to set up some legal documents. There are a few simple and effective ways to set up legal documents for your business.

The first step in starting a business is to decide on your business structure (Sole Proprietorship, Partnership, LLC, Corporation). Then, you can determine what legal documents are required (check with your Secretary of State).

I assume you have done this and are looking for specific documents you need to prepare and have on hand. This is where LawDepot comes in. They have a very easy-to-use search box to find your form.

Having and maintaining all the correct documents is important when starting a business. Many of which could protect your company and its assets.

Make sure you have what you need! Again, by confirming with your Secretary of State’s website.

I spent about 10 minutes creating WAS LLC’s Operation Agreement, then worked on my Estate Plan (to include a Living Will, Power of Attorney, and more).

Personal Documents

Taking a step away from business for a moment, when was the last time you updated personal documents?

When it comes to your legal documents, don’t procrastinate. Now is the time if you haven’t set up a Will or Power of Attorney.

These documents have been something that I’ve needed to find and complete, but I honestly didn’t know where to start. After the business documents, I figured starting the estate planning documents where extremely important.

LawDepot offers a simple way to get your legal documents in order.

So why wait? Get started today.

Estate Planning

After learning more about these documents, I am so thrilled they are included in the huge database with LawDepot.

If you die without a Will or Power of Attorney in place, your family will have to go through the court system to sort out your affairs.

This can be a lengthy and expensive process. LawDepot offers a simple way to get your legal documents in order.

A few documents that should be included include with your estate planning are:

  • Last Will and Testament
  • Power of Attorney
  • Living Will
  • End-of-life plan
  • Emergency Plan (something we all need, I’ve written about making a family plan here)

As you can see, you need to keep various business and personal documents to allow your loved ones to stay safe.

The Good and The Bad

good-and-bad

For every service in the world, there are always pros and cons to them.

I always provide honest reviews on everything I use, and today is no different. I like tons of things about LawDepot, but nobody is perfect.

Here are a few that I would like to share with you.

The Good

Excellent Customer Service.

This is a priority for me. I only had to contact them once, and my questions were quickly answered.

They even provided more information than I asked for.

Tons of Forms.

As mentioned and you will soon see, there are more forms than you will need.

I started this process by looking for a template for creating a business plan.

It was surprising to find out they have so much more! The best part is that everything is in one place. No need to have separate accounts with different companies!

Easy to use.

I’ve had my share of dealing with legal stuff. Most of the time, legal forms are long and confusing.

Using the templates took most of the guesswork out. I was also done with everything I needed in about 10 minutes.

I did go back to change and update a few things. But getting everything started was what I needed to get the ball rolling.

The Badfeedback

Cost.

This is an issue with everything.

To be honest, nobody wants to spend money on anything these days. Especially things you don’t know you NEED.

As discussed below, the price is a bit high, but not bad once you realize what you all get.

Document Formatting.

After saving the forms in PDF (a simple click of the button), a realized some of the formatting were off.

Extra periods at the end of sentences and extra blank lines between paragraphs.

Most of these fixes are easy. You go back into the document and click on edit. But it would be nice if it was automatic.

Legal Stuff

There is one thing that we are all thinking is there any way of confirming these will hold up in court?

I don’t know, but I would love to find out.

Since using LawDepot, I learned they have a team of lawyers who help create each document.

signing-a-document

As you can see, there are both good and bad things with using any service. But, after filling out and reading the documents I have, they all seem legit to me.

Remember, it’s up to you to ensure all the forms are complete. Make sure you read, date, and sign where required. Also, some forms need to be notarized.

What’s The Cost?
fifty-dollar-bills

The price varies depending on what you are looking for.

In a nutshell, you can choose to purchase each document individually, or you can get a monthly (or yearly) unlimited plan.

  • Get their Free Trial to make sure this is what you want!
  • After the free trial, the monthly plan is around $35 per month
  • You can get individual forms to cost between $7.50 to $119 (depending on what you are looking for)
  • Or, I use their yearly pro-plan, which is an annual $107.88 (or $8.99 a month for peace of mind)

You might wonder why I chose the annual plan, and I’m glad you asked.

The main reason is that there are a TON of forms they have. As a business owner, there are some amazing documents. A few that I like are listed below:

  • Partnership Agreement
  • Shareholder Forms
    • Agreement
    • Organizational Meeting
    • Minutes
    • Proxy
  • All the forms for your LLC
  • Incorporation
    • Business Plan
    • Bylaws
    • Articles of Incorporation
  • Confidentiality and Intellectual Property Forms
    • Cease and Desist Letter
    • Website Terms and Conditions
    • Website Privacy Policy
    • Trademark Assessment
  • Human Resource Forms
    • Employment Contract
    • Compensation Agreement
    • Resume and Cover Letter
  • Service Forms
    • Service Agreement
    • Freelance Contract
    • Consulting Agreement
  • Forms for protecting your business

The above list, as you can tell, only includes the business side of things. They have other sections on Family planning, Financial Planning, and even Real Estate!

As you can see, there are many ways to approach using their services. It’s also amazing how easy it is to complete each document.

You really should check out their free trial and see for yourself.
Be ready to save a lot of time and money!
