So you want to write more, but you do not think you are good enough.
Is Grammarly worth it?
I have heard that question many times. I even thought that way myself. After all, writing can be difficult, with adding spelling and grammar.
You might be thinking, “What if I put something out to the world, and there are tons of errors in it?“
Not sure about you, but that tends to turn people away from reading your content.
So what do you do, where do you start, and should you give up?
NO! You push through and find something that works for you. I will be the first to say that I’m a horrible speller and only have a basic understanding of English grammar.
After lots of internet searches, I found a lifeline, and it’s conveniently called Grammarly.
First things first, let’s do a quick overview of this program:
Do You Write?
You might be interested in writing more, or better yet, you think the spell checker you have is good enough.
Here are a few questions to ask yourself:
- Are you in college?
- Have you started a business?
- Do you send clients emails?
- Do you have a blog:
- Are you writing a book?
If you answered yes to any of these, it’s essential to have an editor or second set of eyes to go over your work.
I will be the first to say I’m the world’s worst speller. If you’ve read anything on here, I’m sure you have found an error. And don’t get me started on tense and how to use it. All my life, these have been my greatest enemies.
Thanks to those of you who point it out, in a nice way, I always make the changes as soon as I am aware of them.
Something I’ve been trying to do is go out of my comfort zone. As well as sharing personal stories. One of the things is to confront my fears. Spelling is one, and that is why I started a blog.
So yeah, I have been writing a lot more and came up with a plan. I tried a few services out there, but they all left me wanting more. Grammarly changed everything for me.
Grammarly is the best program I have found and has helped me feel more confident in my writing.
Does Grammarly Have Options?
Yes, they do. I even used their free service for months.
Not only is that a great price and a way to find out if it will work for you, but it is way better than the basic spell checker I’ve always used.
Side note: After getting the Premium plan, I put an old blog post and found quite a few errors in it. I have to admit Grammarly is now my second set of eyes to catch mistakes that my original Microsoft spell checker missed.
Speaking of the options, I saw a special for their premium plan. Boy, am I glad I jumped at the opportunity. There isn’t a day that goes by that I’m not happy with my purchase.
The FREE service was impressive, but the premium is worth the money!
If you aren’t a great speller, this service is a game-changer. The additional options have made my writing much better and easier to read!
You might be wondering what the difference between the two plans is. Well, here you go.
– FREE Plan –
- Spelling
- Grammar
- Punctuation
– PREMIUM Plan –
- Everything In Free Plan
- Fluency
- Readability
- Word Choice
- Plagiarism Detection (excellent if you hire writers)
- Inclusive Language
- Formality Level
- Additional Advance Corrections
As you can see, Grammarly goes further than just spelling. It will help with grammar the tone of your writing and help you eliminate errors and find the words you need to get your point to your audience.
My Saving Grace
I remember the first time I realized a spell checker on something called a computer. Yes, computers were not standard back in the day. I know that is a shocker to some.
For me, it was my saving grace.
Fast forward a few decades, and now we have spell checkers on our phones!
It’s interesting how many others are having issues spelling. I looked into it and realized how many of us use abbreviations, which is both good and bad for regular life.
Something that was my greatest enemy is now common, which is crazy to me.
It’s even more critical today than ever to have a way to check your spelling and grammar. It doesn’t matter if it’s for a client, boss, or an email. You want to sound professional, right?
Going back to the question of this post, Is Grammarly Worth It?
Hell, YES, it is!
There is no way you could be disappointed with Grammarly. To go back over some features, I like and cannot live without:
- Better spell checker than Microsoft or other basic software
- Will work on different platforms (Gmail, Outlook, Messenger, Yahoo, Microsoft, Social Media)
- A free Google Chrome extension
- A tone detector (formal, friendly, optimistic, etc.)
What Are You Waiting For?
If you are on the fence about trying Grammarly, try the version NOW!
I focused most of my attention on programs and software with a free version.
The next thing I look at is a no-hassle money-back guarantee if you decide to upgrade.
This is not only a great company, excellent customer service, but they check all my boxes for trying something new out.
After all, as I mentioned above, I started with the free version and would still have it today. But, I’m so happy with my decision to try out their premium version. I will not go back.
Are you still on the fence? I am more than happy to know what you are thinking or any further questions. Leave me a comment below, and I will get back to you.
Grammarly has caught so many mistakes I have written, and I am glad they check my emails.
It’s so nice that I’m sad I don’t have it on my work computer (yes, I have a daytime job and have this business).
To fix that, I decided to put Grammarly on my cell phone! I am working on getting my work to purchase this amazing program because I believe in it that much. After all, it’s embarrassing when you think your spell checker got everything to find out it missed stuff.
Final Thoughts
Grammarly is one of the best things I have done for myself.
Not only am I able to check my blogs before posting them, like this one. But I can also use their service in other aspects of my life.
This goes for all of my writing. Sending emails out to clients is a big one.
Having peace of mind knowing Grammarly is right there to help me out is all I need. It has also allowed me to feel more comfortable and have been writing a lot more, and I guess that is just an added benefit.
So give them a try and see how you like it. If you have questions, concerns, or are currently using Grammarly, please feel free to leave a comment below.
I know you will not regret giving them a try. It’s FREE after all!
